Tolerance and coexistence

A.M Media is pleased, in line with its mission to support creativity and contribute to building an aware and capable generation that can drive positive change in society, to announce for the first time in the Arab world the launch of the “Elara Awards” for young creatives. This award aims to discover and honor the brightest young talents in the Arab world through the “One-Minute Video” competition focused on tolerance and coexistence.

This award opens the door for young people to showcase their creative ideas on ways to promote tolerance and understanding among all members of society, contributing to building a cohesive and diverse community.

The name of the award, “Elara,” is inspired by the word “Elation,” which means joy, happiness, and the celebration of excellence and unique achievements. It reflects the sense of delight and pleasure derived from seizing exceptional opportunities.

The theme for 2024 is “Tolerance and Coexistence.” This theme aims to encourage young people to create videos that showcase innovative and engaging ways to promote the concept of tolerance, understanding, and building bridges of communication among all members of society.

The competition is open to young people from Arab countries aged 20 to 30.

Three (3) winners will receive the award shield and a cash prize of $3,000 each.

 

Rules and Guidelines

  • The applicant must be from one of the Arab countries.
  • The applicant must be at least 20 years old when completing the application form.
  • The applicant must not be older than 30 years by December 31, 2024.
  • An original one-minute video on the theme of tolerance and coexistence must be submitted.
  • Submissions must be original works created by the applicant.
  • Applicants must use royalty-free materials or obtain the necessary permissions for any video content used.
  • Commercial materials or content promoting a brand or service are not permitted.
  • A.M Media reserves the right to reject any content that promotes violence or contains inappropriate material.
 

Submission Process

  • Submissions will be accepted starting from November 15, 2024, at 12:00 PM UAE time.
  • The deadline for submissions is February 20, 2025, at 12:00 PM UAE time.
  • All submissions must be made through the designated submission form on the company’s website; any other submission method will be disregarded. (Submission link)

 

Evaluation Process

  • The first round of evaluation will be conducted through public voting on social media from January 27 to February 3.
  • The twenty (20) videos with the highest votes, along with three (3) additional videos selected by the company, will proceed to the final round.
  • The final round will be evaluated by a panel of professionals. Their decisions will be based on the idea, storyline, characters, creativity, and technical skills.

 

Prizes

  • Three (3) winners will receive the competition trophy and a cash prize of $3,000 each.

     

Participant Declarations and Commitments

By submitting their entry, the participant declares the following:

  • The submitted work is their original creation and is not copied from any other source.
  • They meet all eligibility requirements.
  • A.M Media is granted the non-exclusive right to use the participant’s name and image in promotional activities related to the award.

How can I interpret the topic? Does the video need to follow a specific style or genre?

The topic, “Tolerance and Coexistence,” can be interpreted with complete freedom. The creative content of the video and its connection to the theme is limited only by your imagination, as long as it’s your original work. Every creator has their own unique perspective, and you are free to interpret the theme as you wish. All genres (fiction, documentary, animation, AI, and others) are encouraged.

The video must be exactly 60 seconds long, no more and no less.

Absolutely! However, if the dialogue is in a language other than Arabic, you must include Arabic subtitles for the submission to be eligible.

Yes, you can shoot the video using any type of camera or device you prefer.

Yes, you can collaborate with anyone you want! However, if you win, you will need to designate one person from the team to be the official representative of the group.

Three winners will be selected by the judging panel. The winners will be announced online in March 2025, and the awards will be presented to them in April 2025.
